Style. Whether it's a chance meeting or an interview for a new job, what's on the outside is just as important as what's on the inside. We've all been told "it's what's on the inside that counts", however, too often nobody gets to see what's on the inside because "first impressions are everything!"

Warren from Nevada asks,

What are your thoughts on wearing a suit jacket (versus a blazer) with blue jeans? If this is ok, what kind of shoes do you recommend?

Warren,

I think one of the best ways to put a great suit to good use is to separate it. Wear those dress pants with a shirt and tie alone. Or, lose the tie and wear a nicely fabricated sweater like a cotton, silk or cashmere blend. Many suit jackets are all weather or light weight wool. This jacket demands nice darker denim. Avoid overly distressed or trendy looking jeans. Keep it simple, go for a straight fit with clean lines and a classic finish. I like a dress shoe with a suit jacket. I think it depends on the guy, but even a funky boot is acceptable if they're in good shape. They may seem old fashioned, but go for a wingtip! Suede gunmetal gray wingtips with a navy suit jacket is incredibly dapper.  That will get some attention, in a good way! They're a classic and I really love the juxtaposition of a slimmer cut suit jacket that's a little bit more trendy with the look of a classic shoe. This is much more interesting to look at than a pair of loafers. I assure you girls will dig it and guys will wonder how you figured out how to look so good!
when you look great, you feel even better
