Style. Whether it's a chance meeting or an interview for a new job, what's on the outside is just as important as what's on the inside. We've all been told "it's what's on the inside that counts", however, too often nobody gets to see what's on the inside because "first impressions are everything!"

As a stylist, I've advised people from all walks of life. No matter our age, profession or body shape, we all benefit from looking our best. How you present yourself tells the world how you want to be treated. Be sure to visit my website at www.karensuzanne.com if you or someone you know is looking for personal assistance!

Aging with grace, or not?

As we age, our hair and skin texture change. Regardless of weight gain or loss, even our face shape changes! It’s important to recognize the changes and accept them as part of life. I’m not trying to get too philosophical but I think as a culture, we need to work harder at embracing age yet be aware of what it’s doing to our overall look. However, it’s difficult to know exactly WHAT aging really looks like these days because of so many cosmetic surgeries.  With Botox, fillers, face and breast lifts, our ideals about what age realistically looks like is certainly skewed. Seeking advice and guidance from style professionals can help you look and feel more confident with what you have TODAY, no surgery!

Faces and skin change, so a hairstyle that looked great in your 20’s is not the hairstyle you should probably have now. That’s not to say you can’t have a signature look that ages with you, gracefully. Think Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren. The most common mistake I see is women hanging on to the long hair from their youth. This style isn’t for every woman and tends to add years to your face. Do you still have the same hairdo as when you were in high school? Stuck in a fashion rut? Start at the top! Change your hair! Men aren’t off the hook here, either. They too tend to find a look and stick with it unnecessarily. Guys, we know you had a head full of luscious curls in your teens. If you’re going bald, PLEASE don’t fight it. Don’t do the comb-over to camouflage your increasingly exposed scalp. Also, don’t add a ponytail to try to throw us off that your upstairs is getting thin.

Everything changes. Truly, the only thing in life that’s consistent is that fact that it’s INconsistent! This is true about careers, friends and obviously our looks! Trends will come and go, there’s great value in the power to stay classic through all the madness. Well fitting basics will take you through years of life changes. Every few years, hire a professional to go through your closet, edit and make updated suggestions for your clothing, hair and makeup.

when you look great, you feel even better
