Style. Whether it's a chance meeting or an interview for a new job, what's on the outside is just as important as what's on the inside. We've all been told "it's what's on the inside that counts", however, too often nobody gets to see what's on the inside because "first impressions are everything!"

As a stylist, I've advised people from all walks of life. No matter our age, profession or body shape, we all benefit from looking our best. How you present yourself tells the world how you want to be treated. Be sure to visit my website at www.karensuzanne.com if you or someone you know is looking for personal assistance!

Buckle Up!

Belts are such a small and overlooked piece in the wardrobe but one that can make a huge difference in the look of an outfit. Your belt shouldn't be holding up your pants, (yep, that one is aimed at the men)Belts are an accessory and NOT meant to be defying gravity. Dress pants as well as denim should fit on the waist without requiring a belt, suspenders or some other form of rigged up trickery. A belt can either be a nice finishing touch or a way to make an outfit pop. When purchasing a belt, go up two sizes from your waist. For example, if you have a 32in. waist, get a size 34 belt.  A good rule to follow is that on a fairly dressy belt, (most canvas and braided belts excluded) no more than 2 holes should be showing once you’ve been buckled.  Note:belts don’t HAVE to match your shoes.  Guys, if you're wearing a suit, keep your shoes and belt the same color, but the tones can be different. Going casual? Mix it up! Contrast is much more interesting but may take some practice. Ladies, we can pretty much do whatever we want. Bags, shoes and belts don't really have to match. Don't be confused. Items can be coordinated, but not matched. I don't recommend putting leopard print shoes with a zebra print bag..although these are "animal prints" they shouldn't go together.  Matchy-matchy is boring and dated but coordinated or related items can be tastefully mixed up to look fresh and sharp.

Belts can be a way to liven up an outfit or restyle clothing you've long since forgotten in the back of your closet. Get a fresh pair of eyes to help pull your looks together in new and interesting ways.

when you look great, you feel even better
