When it comes to denim, it seems there are many more choices out there for women. As far as certain cuts to run towards or ones that just make you scream in horror, there are a few things to consider. If you have a curvier figure, stick with a bootcut or even a straight fit. The benefit of a bootcut is that if you have a butt (like most of us do), the larger opening at the bottom is a great way to balance the curves. Nothing makes a leg look longer and a figure more in proportion than a bootcut shape. Pair these with a boot, platform or any heel to add some height and you’ll not only look taller, you’ll look leaner and your legs miles longer. Straight fit can also make the leg look quite long and if you’re less ample in the hip and thigh area this is also a great choice. Skinny jeans are quite honestly made for women who have less "junk in their trunk". Although skinny’s are extremely versatile, as you can pair them with sandals, boots, heels, etc., skinny’s are an acquired taste and are quite UNforgiving! Buy with caution! That being said, ladies, if you can BARELY zip up your jeans, that's most likely the perfect fit. Most denim has 1-2% spandex allowing for ease of movement but also for give. Denim stretches! Tight when you put them on, just right when you walk out the door.
These tips are general in nature and are a simple guide to help you navigate the sea of denim. I think most women agree with me when I say I'd rather shop for a bikini then hunt for the perfect pair of jeans. At least while I'm breaking into a cold sweat in the fitting room, it's a lot cooler to have on a swimsuit!
