Style. Whether it's a chance meeting or an interview for a new job, what's on the outside is just as important as what's on the inside. We've all been told "it's what's on the inside that counts", however, too often nobody gets to see what's on the inside because "first impressions are everything!"

I've seen a lot of women lately wearing jean jackets with jeans. Sometimes they match in color/material, sometimes not. I know some of the 80′s is coming back…..but what are your thoughts?

Can you wear a jean jacket with jeans? or just with a non-jean pant/outfit?

Wendy,

This is a great question because it gets asked a lot.  Each season designers and regular citizens alike are inspired by those that came before them. Yes, fashion is cyclical. So while everything eventually comes back around again, that doesn't necessarily mean it SHOULD.  Pointless fads and fashion faux pas have run amok in years gone by.

Denim on denim? I don't like it for men OR women. I think it's very difficult to pull off and often times when worn it looks very "country kitchen".  I never recommend my clients wear denim on top and bottom simultaneously.  I'm a big lover of denim, however, for day and night because it can be worn so many ways! Wendy, if you do have a denim jacket, make sure it fits. I like to add denim jackets as a layering piece to add texture. It doesn't need to button, in fact I think the smaller the better! It's not being used for warmth but just as a layering piece to style items differently. Put it over a strapless dress and add chandelier earrings. Pair it with khakis, tank top and fedora or layer it over a sleeveless blouse with bermuda shorts. The possibilities are endless and only limited by your creativity. So, instead of trying to match that denim jacket to your jeans, think of how many other ways you can pair them separately.
Apparently, the denim jacket over jeans is called a Canadian Tuxedo. While I love our neighbors to the North, just say no, eh.

when you look great, you feel even better
